Our Impact

Witchmark Distillery is committed to balancing profit with purpose. We aim to drive positive social and environmental impact, setting new standards in sustainable business practices.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability at Witchmark means creating a resilient, thriving environment through responsible practices. We’re focused on minimizing our environmental footprint, maintaining a sustainable supply chain, engaging our team in our mission, embracing innovative technology, and supporting our community.

What We’re Doing Now

  • Local Sourcing: Using barley from Fonthill Farm, a regenerative agriculture system supporting biodiversity.
  • Renewable Energy: Planning a 100kW solar array for our warehouse roof.
  • Sustainable Fuels: Powering our stills with bio-liquid propane gas derived from eco-road fuels, 40% more sustainable than fossil fuels.
  • Efficient Production: Employing state-of-the-art heat recovery in our distillation process.
  • Waste Management: Providing spent grains for cattle feed and sending botanicals and byproducts to a local anaerobic digester.
  • Eco-Friendly Packaging: Ensuring our packaging meets high environmental standards.
  • Community Support: Partnering with organizations that share our values for social responsibility.

At Witchmark, sustainability and community are at the core of our business, reflecting our commitment to a better, more responsible future.

B Corp - Our Journey So Far

In 2023, The Wiltshire Distilling Company embarked on our B Corp journey, aligning with our core values to balance profit, people, and the planet. B Corp certification offered a path to formalize our dedication to sustainable and responsible business practices. Through this process, we’ve enhanced
our operations, unlocked meaningful Impact Business Models, and committed to continuous improvement across social, environmental, and economic fronts.

Community

We’re proud to support our local community by pledging to donate at least 2% of our annual revenue to charity and sourcing over 50% of our products from local suppliers. Our new visitor centre is also available for community group meetings at no charge. For more details, reach out at everything@witchmark.co.uk or call us on 01747 356110.

Environment

Our commitment to sustainability is central to our operations. We've implemented energy-efficient heat management systems and plan to install solar panels to reduce energy consumption. Sourcing water from our own borehole and using local ingredients, such as grains from the Fonthill Estate, help minimize our environmental impact while supporting local economies.

Our People

We believe in fair treatment and compensation, offering enhanced paternity leave and paying all staff at least a Living Wage. Our employees are essential to our success, and we aim to foster a supportive work environment that reflects this.

Our Promise

We publish annual Impact Reports to outline our commitments, achievements, and future goals, ensuring accountability and transparency. Over the past year, we’ve achieved milestones like the launch of Witchmark Distillery, crafting our first whisky barrel, and earning awards for Stone Daisy Brewery beers. Our pursuit of becoming England's most sustainable distillery is ongoing, driving every decision we make and shaping our journey forward.
